What do you want for your next year?

I’m a big fan of closing out the year. It’s a practice of reflecting on what happened, who you were, and dreaming of what can happen, and who you can be.

If you can find an hour, sometime over the next few weeks, take some time to answer some questions for yourself:

What went right?

  • Did your choices or actions influence it at all?

  • How did you react at the time, and what would you do differently now?

  • What, if anything did you learn from it?

  • Imagine it’s one year from now. How would you like to answer “what went right?”

What went wrong?

  • Did your choices or actions influence it at all?

  • How did you react at the time, and what would you do differently now?

  • What, if anything did you learn from it?

What do you need to let go of in the new year?

What do you need to do more of in the new year?

Reflecting on your year allows you the mental space to close it — when you’ve said everything you can say, you can put it away, and focus on what’s to come.
