I just put together a recap of all my Job Drops from May. Alongside my weekly snapshots, I wanted to get a real picture of what May looked like for Customer Success Job seekers.

This recap is available for all subscribers, free and Insider! Visit the dashboard and get all the data, including detailed salary breakdowns (ranges and median per category) and category volume (compared to April and Q1).

The headlines of the May 2026 Customer Success Job Market recap: 305 total jobs, $125k median salary, Senior CSM is the top category and YTD total jobs is 1404.

May closed at 305 roles, down 68 from April. But this isn’t a market cooling story.

April was the largest month in Job Drop history, by a lot. It blew the Q1 average out of the water in nearly every category. And May was not that far behind (the Q2 in review is going to be massive!).

The volume growth in April and May has largely been led by CSMs, both Experienced (2-4 years) and Senior (5+ years), and in May, Senior CSM was the largest category by +20 jobs.

Median salaries for CSMs are slightly down about $3k from last month, in both Experienced and Senior CSM categories. But the overall median still ticked up, because Senior CSM, one of the higher-paying categories, became the largest by volume.

One takeaway: use the category median salary and ranges to know exactly what to ask for in your next negotiation.

Salary breakdown per category, with range and median salary, plus total number of jobs.

  • CSM: $90,000 - $110,000

  • Senior CSM: $125,000 - $155,000

  • Leadership: $150,000 - $200,000

  • Onboarding: $94,000 - $121,000

  • CS Ops: $110,000 - $139,0001

  • Break Into Tech: $70,000 - $91,000

Another highlight: Insiders got access to 172 more jobs this month. If you’re looking for CSM, Senior CSM, and Leadership roles especially, this can make a huge difference in your job search.

Why it rocks to be an Insider! Insiders got benefits like access to more jobs, Playbooks, and the Weekly Market Pulse.

I like to break down the data about the CS Job Market like this to help you have a better informed job search.

If you have any feedback, questions or requests, please reply to this email and let me know! I’m here to help 🙂

Best,

Nicole

PS: I’m hosting an event in the next few weeks all about the state of the CS Job Market right now and I’d love for you to join me!

It’s free, but there are only 50 seats available. If you can’t make it live, I will share the recording so you do not need to register to get it!

1  I didn’t start tracking CS Ops roles until March 2026, and even then the volume is quite low, so salary median does tend to swing wildly. Take this range with a grain of salt for now!
