This Playbook is a big one. It’s taken me almost 3 months to write, because I wanted it to be right. LinkedIn is a platform with many masters: one part sales tool, another part recruiting tool, a third part social network and lastly, a tool for getting hired.
A lot of advice about the LinkedIn Profile is geared toward content creators. But if you’re not a content creator, you shouldn’t have to study how a social platform works and worry about all the details. I wanted to condense the research into simple guidelines you can take to your LinkedIn profile today, and stop worrying about it.
So, with that in mind, this Playbook will go over the research and the standards for how to update your LinkedIn profile so recruiters will find you.
What are Playbooks?
Playbooks are in-depth, tactical and strategic guides to help you in your Customer Success job search and career. They are premium resources, available in full for Insiders.
If you’ve been on the internet for any amount of time, you probably have some understanding of SEO. You write a blog post or create a website, use the right keywords, and those keywords will be matched with people’s searches. This is the backbone of how we understand search functions recruiters are using on LinkedIn every day.
Except, this is no longer the whole story. The TikTok algorithm essentially blew open every social platform’s algorithm and we’ve entered an era of constant changes and updates that feel impossible to keep up with, especially in this new era of AI.
We’ve officially reached a major change to the LinkedIn algo that you need to know about, so you can more easily be found by recruiters.
The Research
How LinkedIn Recruiter works
In November 2025, LinkedIn launched AI-powered people search for all users. Any user can search in plain language, like "experienced CS leader who's scaled a team in mid-market SaaS" and get back AI-ranked results based on the platform's read of who actually fits.
For recruiters, a tool called Hiring Assistant lets recruiters search in the same plain language — "I want to hire a senior Customer Success Manager with HealthTech experience" — and returns AI-ranked candidates based on skills, experience, and fit.
And the results show your name, your Headline, and an AI-generated summary of your Experience and About sections.
The most important thing for you to understand is that the AI ranking is not based on keywords, but semantic matching.
